Milpitas, CA - May 22, 2013 – FireEye®, Inc., the leader in stopping today's new breed of cyber attacks, today announced that its next-generation threat protection platform now supports compliance with Special Publication (SP) 800-53 Revision 4, Security and Privacy Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations, published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This publication helps federal government agencies secure their networks to mitigate the risk from cyber attack, including advanced persistent threats (APTs).
Special Publication (SP) 800-53, Revision 4 provides a holistic approach to information security and risk management by providing the depth and breadth of security controls necessary to fundamentally strengthen information systems. Adopting the updated controls is designed to enhance resiliency in the face of cyber attacks and provide organizations with information essential for making risk-based decisions that affect critical missions and business functions.
FireEye specifically supports the addition of Security Control 44, Detonation Chambers. This control calls for the use of dynamic execution environments to identify both known and unknown malware. Widespread adoption of this control will dramatically enhance protection against advanced cyber threats that use sophisticated tactics such as polymorphic malware and zero-day attacks.
